Prof. Smrutiranjan Parida is currently serving as a Professor at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, India.
Education and Career
Prof. Parida earned his Ph.D. from the University of Saarland, Saarbruecken, Germany, and his M.Tech. degree in Materials Science & Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India. He was awarded the esteemed DAAD fellowship from Germany.
Research Interests
Prof. Parida’s research focuses on the following areas:
- Alloy development in corrosion.
- Nanomaterials in corrosion.
- Anticorrosion coatings.
- Electrochemical energy and sensors.
Teaching and Contributions
Since 2011, Prof. Parida has been teaching postgraduate and undergraduate courses on corrosion science and electrochemistry at IIT Bombay.

- S.K. Seshadri Memorial MASCOT National Award – 2021 for outstanding contribution in the field of corrosion.
