Prof. Smrutiranjan Parida is currently serving as a Professor at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay)>, Mumbai, India.
Education and Career
Prof. Parida earned his Ph.D. from the University of Saarland, Saarbruecken, Germany, and his M.Tech. degree in Materials Science & Engineering from IIT Kharagpur>, India. He was awarded the esteemed DAAD fellowship from Germany.
Research Interests
Prof. Parida’s research focuses on the following areas:
- Alloy development in corrosion.
- Nanomaterials in corrosion.
- Anticorrosion coatings.
- Electrochemical energy and sensors.
Teaching and Contributions
Since 2011, Prof. Parida has been teaching postgraduate and undergraduate courses on corrosion science and electrochemistry at IIT Bombay.

- S.K. Seshadri Memorial MASCOT National Award – 2021 for outstanding contribution in the field of corrosion.
