Prof. V.S. Raja
Emeritus Fellow, Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Bombay
Prof. V.S. Raja is an Emeritus Fellow in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), India. He has held visiting positions as Professor and Researcher at several prestigious universities and institutes across the USA, Germany, France, and Japan.
Research Contributions
Prof. Raja’s research spans topics related to structure-property-corrosion, with a particular focus on localized corrosion and environmentally assisted cracking of light metals. His pioneering work on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of aluminum, magnesium, titanium alloys, and steels has provided invaluable insights into the electrochemistry, surface chemistry of films, and metallurgy of alloys, which have contributed to the development of alloys with exceptional SCC resistance.
Academic Supervision
Prof. Raja has supervised over 35 doctoral and 120 master’s students, contributing to the academic development of numerous professionals in the field.
