Cathodic Protection and Survey Techniques

March 6 - March 7
Cathodic Protection and Survey Techniques

Cathodic Protection (CP) is most important technique for protection of underground pipes and metallic structures from corrosion. Corrosion is responsible for metal loss thus weakening the structure, which results into premature failure of underground structure. Thus causing huge economic loss, supply disruptions, environmental pollution besides loss of the company’s reputation and penal actions. CP surveys involve measuring the electrical potential of the structure to verify that it is adequately protected by a CP system, often using techniques like direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) to identify coating defects and assess the effectiveness of the system.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED

  • Basics of Corrosion
  • Basic of Cathodic Protection
  • CIPL Survey (Close Interval Potential Logging)
  • DCVG Survey (Direct Current Voltage Gradient)
  • ACVG Survey (Alternating Current Voltage Gradient)
  • CAT Survey (Current Attenuation Test)
  • AC/DC Interference Survey

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Personnel who need a working understanding of the basic principles of corrosion prevention. It can be attended by Engineers, Technicians, Pipeline Operators, CP surveyors, Facility Managers, Maintenance planners, Supervisors and Inspectors. It has also been designed for those with no previous training in corrosion prevention, such as engineers from other disciplines, management and administrative staff and Salespersons.
