AMPP India Chapter successfully conducted a highly impactful educational training program on “Fundamentals of
Cathodic Protection & ICCP System Onboard in Ships” on October 14th, 2025, for Indian Navy, HITU,
Visakhapatnam.


Since 1992, AMPP India Chapter (formerly NACE International India Section) has been providing specialized educational
programs across industries and has been widely recognized for its significant contribution to corrosion combat in India.
The training program commenced with a warm welcome by Lt. CDR E Vijaya Krishna, Dy Oi/C, HIUT (V) introduced the
technical program, Chief Guest. Capt. A K Hariharan, DGM, (HULL), ND (V), faculty member, AMPP India Team and
participants. In his welcome address, he briefed the participants about the objectives, structure, and contents of the training
program.

Mr. Manoj Mishra, Manager Admin. AMPP India Chapter, briefed the participants about the AMPP & AMPP India (NACE India)
and benefits of training programs & introduction of faculty members. AMPP is a globally recognized organization and is one of
the premier institutions providing technical support, corrosion control solutions and training courses. AMPP offers technical
training and certification programs, conferences, industry standards, publications, technical journals and more activities.

Mr. Pankaj Panchal, an AMPP Certified Cathodic Protection (CP) Faculty and distinguished faculty member on Cathodic
Protection for AMPP India Chapter’s and also a part of AMPP India Chapter’s expert technical committee.

The sessions provided in-depth knowledge on cathodic protection and corrosion prevention practices, equipping participants
with a strong foundation to address practical challenges in defense and marine applications of Cathodic Protection Methods
for Ships and ICCP system onboards in Ships and Hull Protection.

The educational workshop was attended by 25 officers of HITU, Indian Navy and served as an excellent platform for
knowledge exchange on corrosion challenges and practical solutions relevant to the maritime industry
– Fundamentals of Cathodic Protection System and its Corrosion Prevention
– Cathodic Protection Methods for Ships & Protection Criteria
– Sacrificial Anodes for Ship Hull Protection
– Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) System onboard in Ships
– Installation and Maintenance of Sacrificial Anodes for Ship Hulls
– CP System & Changes in Underwater Hull Area
– Discussions & Question/Answer and Valedictory Function

During the valedictory session, Capt. V T Mathew, HITU (Vizag) personally interacted with each participant to gather feedback. The overwhelming response highlighted the immense value of this workshop. A special thanks to Mr. Pankaj Panchal-faculty members, participants, and the especially Mr. Manoj Mishra-Manger Admin. for coordinating this successful educational workshop for support.
