Fundamentals of Coating & Lining

Protective Coatings are the most widely used method to control and/or mitigate corrosion. Protective coatings are the first line of defence against the costly effects of corrosion and are designed to prevent or limit contact between a structure’s surface (usually steel or concrete) and its corrosive environment. When a coating system is properly selected and installed, it is able to achieve its designed service life with minimal maintenance and repair. The majority of coating failures are caused by faulty surface preparation, application technique, or selection of the wrong coating for the intended service environment.
Rework and replacement are expensive and can be avoided by good practices and understanding the standards and recommendations of the trained coating inspector so that problems can be identified before the project moves on to the next step. This reduces the potential for coating failures that can result in costly repairs, downtime, environmental issues, and health hazards.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This course thoroughly trains coating professionals to properly understand the technical aspects of surface preparation and application of protective coatings on a variety of structures in any industry.
Personnel who are Contractors, Fabricators – Project Supervisors, QA/QC personnel, Blasters & Painters, Foremen & Contractor Supervisors, Pipeline Engineers, End User/Paint Contractors, Supervisors, etc.
It is designed to give the students a path for continued professional development that can open the doors to more job opportunities.
